At their last meeting in Porto, on 11 September 2014, following intense work, negotiations and lots of cooperation, the 5 stakeholder Member States agreed on the final draft OP document to be submitted to European Commission.

New Programme, new strategy
Considering the needs analysis and challenges of the Atlantic Area, the Programme is strucutred around 4 priority axes and 7 specific objectives.
The focus is on a limited set of topics to maximise the resources allocated, respond to Europe 2020 strategy and the related thematic concentration and provide appropriate answers to issues that cannot be solved on a regional or national basis. A total ERDF allocation of € 140m is foreseen.

4 Priorities

Innovation
Priority 1 aims to stimulate innovation and competitiveness. It will support cooperation among innovation actors to work on new products and service development, technology transfer and access to the market.

Resource Efficiency
Priority 2’s main goal is to foster resource efficiency, supporting the development, use and acceptance of renewable sources of energy, as well as initiatives devoted to the introduction of eco-innovation and green growth.

Risks Management
Priority 3's objective is to strenghten the territory's resillience to risks of natural, climate and human origin, for local regional authorities and relevant stakeholders to be better prepared to adapt to climate change and to potential risks affecting their territory.

Biodiversity, natural and cultural assets
Priority 4 will contribute to the environment protection and the promotion of cultural identity, to make the region more attractive and to secure the natural heritage and the richeness of the natural resources while stimulating economic development
